Developments and News - 2003 year


     Agreement about collaboration the sphere of education and staff training between ASOA and China Petroleum University was signed in 2003 in the frame of which educational centre on 18 computers and local network base was created.

     Scientific –practical conference “Heydar Aliyev and oil –gas complex development: 1969- 2003” devoted to Heydar Aliyev’s 80-th anniversary was held on April 22, 2003 in ASOA.
     The conference was announced open with the introductory speech by the chairman of organizing committee member of correspondence of National Academy of Azerbaijan, ASOA rector, professor Siyavush Qarayev “Phenomen of Heydar Aliyev in the development of science, education, culture and production”.
     The scientists of Oil Academy spoke at the conference with the themes: “Heydar Aliyev’s personality and development of oil gas sphere”, “Success and perspectives in the spheres of oil- chemistry, chemistry and oil production of Azerbaijan”, “Support problem of Azerbaijan oil-gas industry with high quality and reliable equipment”, “Transfer of Offshore, Heat Electro stations into multifunctional enterprises”, “Perspectives and development level of automation and information technologies in the productional sphere of Azerbaijan”, “Heydar Aliyev and development of ownership in fuel –energy –chemistry complex ”, “Azerbaijan transport pipelines –the victory in great oil strategy”.

     On September 5, 2003 “Lukoil Day” was held in ASOA. The meeting with “Lukoil” president Vagit Alekperov with professor lecturers’ staff was organized where “Agreement about collaboration between “Lukoil” and ASOA” was signed and Vagit Alekperov was awarded with diploma “Honorable Doctor of ASOA” and the opening ceremony of educational –methodical centre with the area of 280 m2 and local network, 37 computers and specialized hall for carrying out lectures with general square 80 m2 created by support of “Lukoil” was held as well.

     From November 21 up to December 12, 2003 the 52-nd scientific –technical conference of students devoted to “The National Revival Day” took place.


     Plenary meeting was announced open by chairman of organizing committee prof. Siyavush Qarayev, where minister of education Misir Mardanov and graduating student of ASOA in 1959, correspondence member of NASA, professor Ayaz Efendiev congratulated the students.


     In 9 sections 16 meeting were held, 251 reports were listened to and 201 thesis’s have been published. 56 students coming forward with interesting reports have been awarded as with diplomas of organizing committee as well as with present and money reward from general sponsor –joint enterprise “Azercell Telecom” and companies –sponsors: “Lukoil”, “Emerson Process Management”, “Total”, “Siemens” and “Unocal”.
