Developments and News - 2007 year


       From 13 till 29 November, 2007 the 56-th scientific-technical conference of Azerbaijan State Oil Academy students devoted to “The Constitution Day” took place. 286 reports about the results of scientific researches of undergraduate students and 56 reports of graduate students were included in the conference program over the 9 section.
       Rector, academician Siyavush Garayev, minister of education professor Misir Mardanov and chairman of the National Board of Youth Organizations, deputy of Milli Mejlis Fuad Muradov who graduated from ASOA in 2000 congratulated the participants on the plenary meeting.
       20 meetings were held in the sections and 231 reports were listened during November. Each presentation has been assessed by independent jury.
       The final meeting of the conference was held at 7-th December. The Organizing Committee has honored 17 students with the first degree award, 20 students – with the second degree award, 6 foreign students of the Academy were awarded encouraging prizes for pro-activeness. 16 conferees were granted special pecuniary prizes from the students’ local trade union organization. Presents from sponsors – companies “Siemens”, “Emerson process management”, “Halliburton digital and consulting solutions”, “KBR”, “KCA Deutag”, “Total” and “Trend” news agency were presented to all these students.
       Theses of the reports of 201 students will be published with the help of the main sponsor of the conference – joint ventures “Azercell Telecom”.

     On the 9-th of October 2007 German – Azerbaijan conference dedicated to the process of reforms of Azerbaijan engineering education was led in Cologne University of Applied Sciences (Germany). Minister of education professor Misir Mardanov was head of the delegation of our country. Rector of ASOA, academician Siyavush Garayev has made the report «Efforts of Azerbaijan universities in the field of engineering education» on behalf of all rectors.

     Starting on 26-th till 30-th of November, 2007 «Oil Trading Process Support» courses will be held in ASOA. Certificates of British «Confidence Energy» company and ASOA will be issued to attendees at the end of the studies.

     3 – 4 Oktober, 2007 delegation of Sh.Esenov Aktau State University (Kazakhstan) visited ASOA. They came to understanding with the rector of ASOA, academician Siyavush Garayev regarding concrete actions to be done in the field of education and science according to the earlier signed «Cooperation agreement». Kazakh delegation members: Rector of the University, professor Abdumutalip Abjapparov, director of Oil and Gas Institute, associate professor Askar Seydaliyev, head of department, professor Alpamis Aytgulov and Chairman of Azerbaijanian national-cultural center «Dostlug», professor of the University Yusif Guliyev.

     27 – 29 September, 2007, ASOA took part at the 1-st Azerbaijan International Exibition «Education and Career», held in «Grand Europe» hotel. Minister of Education Misir Mardanov familiarized with exposure of ASOA.

     Since 18 to 21 September, 2007 rector of ASOA, academician Siyavush Garayev and vice-rector on Science and Engineering, professor Ramiz Humbatov took part at the VII scientific-technical konference of young scientists and specialists of «Lukoil» Group’s organizations, held in Burgas, Bulgaria.

     On 5, June, 2007 “KCA Drilling” company presented to 6 students of ASOA (2 from gas-oil-field, 2 from oil-mechanical, 2 from energy faculties) sertificaties for awarding schlorarships and gifts.

     On 29-30 in ASOA representatives of Norwegian University of Science and Technology professors Ńon Kleppe and Michael Golan discussed with rector of ASOA, academician Siyavush Garayev perspectives of Collaboration between to universities. UN Resident-coordinator in Azerbaijan, mr. Bruno Pueza, Ambassador of Norway in Azerbaijan, mr. Jon Ramberg, menecer of “Statoyl”, mr. Torbjorn Lindseth and vice-rector of ASOA Ramiz Humbatov took part in the discussion. As a result 6 proposals brought forward by ASOA (send to Norway 2 master level, 1Ph.D students, creation in ASOA “Virtual reality” training laboratory, electronically information exchange system, electronically library, modern print center and center for integrated operations) were approved.

     As a part of the successful partnership between the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy in order to support students with a promising potential to develop Azerbaijan’s economy in the field of energy and industry Siemens AG will award scholarships for two students of the “Energy” and “ Manufacturing processes automation” faculties. The certificate conformed this order was presented by Member of the Managing Board Mr Rudi Lamprecht to vice-rector of Oil Academy professor Ramiz Humbatov. The scholarships are funded for two years. Winners will be selected by the competent authorities of the state Oil Academy in cooperation with the Representative office of Siemens AG and in conjunction with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Baku.

     On 11 may 2007 at ASOA was held the meetnig with the participation of UN Resident coordinator, head of UNDP, Mr Bruno Pueza, ambassador of Norway in Azerbaijan, Mr Jon Ramberg and rector of ASOA academician Siyavush Qarayev where the prospects of cooperation between ASOA and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) are discussed. As a result the decision to organize on May 29 at ASOA another meeting wrth the representatives of NTNU professor Jon Kleppe and Michael Colan and President of Statoyl-Azerbaijan, Mr Christian Hausken.

     On May 3, 2007 Scientific-practical Conference devoted to the 84-th Anniversary of general national leader Heydar Aliyev was held in ASOA. The reports about the life and activity of general national leader Heydar Aliyev have been spoken by rector of ASOA, academician Siyavush Garayev, vice-rector, professor Imran Djafarzadeh, vice-rector, professor Ramiz Gumbatov, the chairman of Nasimi region “Yeni Azerbaijan” party organization member of parlament Malakhat Gasanova, the head of executing power of Nasimi region Nasib Mahamaliyev, the chairman of students trade union Zafar Gurbanov.

      On April 26, 2007 rector of ASOA, professor Siyavush Garayev was elected real member (academician) of National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan.

      On 23-24 April, 2007, in Baku, at Hyatt Regency hotel was held First Caspian Oil Trading and Transportation Conference, was organized by Conference Energy (UK) and Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.
      More then 150 specialist from the 35 companies of more than 20 countries took part at the conference.

      On 11 April, 2007 head of I European department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Socialist Republic Mr.Vuang Tua Fuong presented to rector of ASOA professor Siyavush Garayev Order “Friendship” of this country. ASOA 3th time awarded by this Order for its great contribution to training highly qualified specialists for Vietnam.
